Who Does Chris Como Coach on the PGA Tour?

Chris Como is widely regarded as one of the brightest and most innovative coaching minds in golf. Over the years, he has worked with some of the biggest names in the sport, blending traditional coaching with a scientific approach rooted in his Master’s degree in sports biomechanics.

Although not an elite player himself, Como studied under some of the best coaches in the game, including David Leadbetter, Sean Foley, and Hank Haney. His reputation skyrocketed in 2014 when Tiger Woods chose him as his swing coach, and since then, he has guided several PGA Tour stars.

Tiger Woods

Chris Como’s most high-profile client was Tiger Woods. The two began working together in 2014 after Woods split with Sean Foley, and their partnership lasted until 2017.

Unfortunately, Woods’ injuries during this time limited his ability to compete regularly. His best PGA Tour finish in 2014 was T25, and in 2015 he managed a T10 at the Wyndham Championship before a 15-month layoff for back surgeries. While results were inconsistent, Como gained valuable experience working with one of the greatest players of all time.

Bryson DeChambeau

After his time with Woods, Como teamed up with Bryson DeChambeau. Their partnership proved groundbreaking. Under Como’s guidance, DeChambeau re-engineered his swing to generate more speed and distance.

During the COVID-19 pandemic break, DeChambeau transformed his body and game, leading to his first Major title at the 2020 U.S. Open. Injuries eventually slowed progress, and when DeChambeau moved to LIV Golf, the two amicably parted ways, with Como preferring not to take on a full travel schedule.

Jason Day

Jason Day, a former World No. 1, began working with Como after a chance meeting in 2020. Day, who had been struggling with injuries, praised Como’s deep knowledge and calm approach.

Together, they rebuilt Day’s swing and confidence. The work paid off in May 2023 when Day won the AT&T Byron Nelson — his first PGA Tour victory in five years.

Tom Kim

In 2023, Como began coaching rising star Tom Kim. The results were almost immediate: Kim finished T6 at the Scottish Open, T2 at The Open Championship, and successfully defended his Shriners Open title in October 2023.
